Okay, has anybody managed to get @staff’s promised “back up your blog” feature to work? Mine’s just been sitting at “processing” for 48 hours, and everybody I’ve asked is the same.
Everyone I know has had much better luck with using this project to backup their blogs. It seems way faster, too–I archived all the art from something like 3000 posts in about twenty minutes.
For the Tumblr backup feature, it takes about a few hours for a blog with 3,500 post and a day for a blog with 90,000 posts. There’s also no guarantee that you’d be able to download the backup. The smaller blog was 6.4 GB, while I’ve had no luck in downloading the larger blog.
tumblr-utils is the best archival tool. The alternative is TumblThree if you prefer a GUI over command line, but it sorta just dumps stuff into a folder instead.
